Data Migration Project As part of a recent service improvement programme to reduce carbon footprint, electricity consumption and datacentre space, our consultant acted as a Technical Wintel Project Lead to migrate terabytes of data onto new EMC storage arrays within two Storage Area Networks. |
| Our lead consultant: |
- Was involved in all aspects of delivery, from starting up to closing the project
- Wrote the Terms of Reference (ToR) to determine the overall objectives and scope
- Initiated the discovery to interrogate and record the hardware and software configurations
- Engaged other areas of the Group Technology department and the business
- Performed the data migrations on fifteen key banking systems whilst minimising risk to the service

Anti Virus Replacement Project
As part of company wide Anti Virus upgrade project (200,000 networked devices), our consultant again acted as a Technical Wintel Project Lead to remove an old Anti Virus product and upgrade to a new Anti Virus Product on 1,800 key business critical application servers. The purpose of this project was to increase network and system security and reduce Anti Virus support costs. |

- Planned deployment to 1,800 critical application servers located nationwide
- Scheduled rollouts outside of SLA’s to ensure service availability was maintained
- Deployed to high critical business servers whilst minimising and mitigating risk
- Continually managed risks and issues and escalated where necessary
- Successfully deployed to key measured services whilst assessing impact and cost

| Other projects include desktop and server rollouts, homeworker installs, data centre migrations, operating system upgrades, desktop and server refresh, NT – XP standardisation, server commissioning / decommissioning, comms room and data centre service improvements, voice and data network LAN installations. |

| 3rd Level WINTEL consultancy Break Fix Support |
| To keep the show on the road and help maintain 99.9% service availability to both internal and external clients, our consultant managed corrective and preventative fixes whilst assisting in high level system recoveries in the event of a service outage. |

- Acted as a platform owner, making decisions on support issues and system monitoring
- Wrote change records and implementation plans to anticipate failures or repair faults
- Managed change in a controlled fashion whilst assessing SLA 's and minimising impact
- Built and rebuilt server hardware including mirrored pairs and RAID 5 etc
- Built and rebuilt WINTEL operating systems (All Microsoft Technologies)
- Built Infrastructure (DHCP, DNS, WINS and Active Directory including GPO's and OU's)
- Performed due diligence on new or ‘take on' brands to ensure service was fit for production
- Planned and scheduled security patching and deployment of Microsoft hotfixes
- Reduced single point of failures by looking at redundancy, resiliency and disaster recovery
- Managed certain aspect of capacity planning to ensure business continuity
